Hello. I am new to this site and am having some difficulty navigating it with my very limited knowledge of Polish.
My main goal is to track down Polish documents and information on my ancestors with the surname Paczkowski. It would be wonderful if anyone else is doing research on any of the bolded names below or recognize them. However, that is probably wishful thinking.
The real help I am asking now, is if anyone recognizes some of the underlined Polish location names below. I believe some are misspelled or no longer exist while others I just can't make out the Polish handwriting.
My earliest-known direct ancestor was Frank or John Paczkowski. He was born somewhere in Poland before 1848 and was married to a Mary Lewandowska. Frank/John Paczkowski had a brother named Joseph Paczkowski. On 20 January 1891, Joseph Paczkowski lived in Płonko, Golub-Dobrzyń district.
Frank/John Paczkowski and his wife Mary Lewandowska had at least 4 children who emigrated to the USA, specifically to St. Louis, Missouri. The first was Francis "Frank" Paczkowski (1866-1932) who emigrated in 1887. His wife Julianna Blaczkiewiez (1868-1925) emigrated a year later.
The next sibling was Antoinette "Antonia" Paczkowska (1875-1957). She arrived some time between 1891-1895 and was married to John Krzeminski (1867-1946).
Julia Paczkowska (1877-1961) came next. She emigrated in 1896 with her husband Michael Kolkowski (1866-1941).
Finally, my ancestor, Josef "Joseph" Paczkowki (nephew of the above-mentioned Joseph Paczkowski) emigrated in 1903. He boarded a ship in Bremen, Germany that sailed to Baltimore, Maryland, USA before he, his wife Johanna Agnes Montewska (1880-1951) and two children traveled to St. Louis. Joseph's papers indicate he was born in Buchenhagen, Germany on 26 May 1878. If I understand it correctly, this is now called Grabówka, Poland. Is that right? Before emigrating, Joseph's last residence was listed as Sbriniki, Germany. I've also seen this written as Silberdorf, but can't find information for either.

So are there are areas on this website to find information for:
- The Paczkowski surname
- Płonko, Golub-Dobrzyń
- Buchenhagen, Germany / Grabówka, Poland
- Sbriniki / Silberdorf
Thank you for any help.

Dziękuję!
Both replies were better than I hoped for!
Cytat:
Podajesz małżeństwo:
Michał Kołkowski i Julianna Paczkowska
lecz matka Julianny to Marianna zd.Wiśniewska nie Lewandowska
I only have one source for the last name Lewandowska. A scrap of paper that includes the handwriting "Great Grandma in Poland Lewandowska". Since I don't know where the information is from, it's very possible it is wrong and Wiśniewska is correct.
Thank you both again! |
