Hello!
Please forgive my weak English, I hope that that the below summary will help you.
You shall take into consideration that the “Great Geographical Dictionary (…)” was written in XIX century, so the text may appear funny and strange.
MUCHARZ – village in Wadowice district, placed on the hill near to the wood, at the road from Wadowice to Sucha, at 397 m AMSL, at the estuary of the JASZCZUROWKA torrent to the SKAWA river, at the left riverbank.
The village is bordered by Jaszczorowka torrent and Jaszczurowy and Jamnik villages in the west, Skawa river in the north and in the east. The riverbanks are hilly and woody.
There is an ancient parish with a new, stony church built in 1860-1868, post office and one-class primary school in the village. There are 752 Roman-Catholics and few Jewish habitants.
The most of the village belongs to Franc Tetschel (+ the details of arable lands, pastures etc)
According to tradition the first wooden church was established circa 996 year by Saint Wojciech (Adalbert); the stone church of Saint Floryan was supposed to be built in 1030 year. But according to the newest archeological researches the bells in the church were made in 1543 and in 1695. In the beginning the church may have been used by protestants (the Aryans). For sure the church was rebuilt in 1688, consecrated in 1690 by bishop Stanislaw Szembek and devoted to Saint Wojciech.
The historical streamers and one chasuble (liturgical vestment) ware discovered in the choir gallery of the church. The streamers used to be the decoration of the tombs of: Stanislaw Przewuski, died in 1628; Family Stawinski from Poreba and Andrzej Witkowski died in 1705.
There is a FLY on the ancient village coat of arms (FLY in Polish = MUCHA).
There are 2 historical documents concerning the village. First, created in 1254 = the donation of the village to the Norbertan Female Order in Zwierzyniec, made by the king Boleslaw the Modest. In the second, created in 1389, Jan the duc of Oswiecim confirms the donation and gives some additional privileges to the local parson. Probably the second document was faked by local priests. It provoked numerous litigations between the parson and Norbertan Female Order about the exclusive right to produce and sell vodka.
Some members of Mucharski family (in Polish the name Mucharski means “from Mucharz”) was graduated of the Krakow University in XVII and XVIII century.
