Hi Fabian,

I've done a transcript in English. It was quite difficult reading some of the text and unfortunately I was not able to read everything. So far I have only done the manifest for Alois Fikus.

Kind regards,
Gregory

Hi Fabian,

I had difficulties reading the second manifest for Josef Fikus. One interesting thing I noticed was the person under Josef, No. 30 on the manifest was also from Andrychow and travelling to Alois Fikus in Bridgeport.

If there is anything you are uncertain of or you are not sure as to what it means please let me know and I'll try to help.

Kind regards,
Gregory

Hi Fabian,

I checked out the inflation of the US Dollar and $25 in 1913 would be worth about $613.23 in 2017. Also the average wage in the US in 1913 according to the statics of the period was $15.38.

This is a link to the price of food in 1913 http://inflationdata.com/articles/2013/ ... tion-1913/

I thought you may find this interesting.

Kind regards,
Gregory

Hi Gregory! Sorry I was out of home recently. Thank you for reading those manifests. Alois Fikus was my grandfather and his father was Josef. I suppose that first Josef Fikus went to USA and later Alois his son joined him and Josef went back to Andrychów and again joined to his son Alois.
That is what I think about it because I have another ship manifest. I am still trying find out more information and confirm my suggestion.

Below there is link to ship manifest from 1906. Position 9 Josef Fikus
but Josef confirmed in 1913 that He had never been in USA before.

http://www.libertyellisfoundation.org/s ... cGciOw==/1

Yes you are right person under no 30 was going to this same address.

I know little more about Alois from ship manifest and draft records. Below our previous conversation:

https://genealodzy.pl/index.php?name=PNp ... highlight=

But still I Know not too much about Josef, Alois wife and person under no 30. Could you read name of this person? This same address is fact.
They are intrigue me, they are mystery.

If could you help me find any information about it please I will be really grateful to you for all your help.

Best regards,
Fabian R

Hi Fabian,

I'm presuming that Alois got married in the US, as on the arrival manifest in 1913 it says he was single but then on the Draft Registration Card from 1917 he is married with one child. If this is correct there should be marriage and birth records. I'm guessing this may have taken place in Bridgeport, Connecticut as he went to Bridgeport in 1913 and his wife was living in Bridgeport in 1917.

I'll have a search and see if I can find anything.

By any chance do you know the name of his wife?

Kind regards,
Gregory

Hi Gregory!
I have no idea about Alois wife name. I have marriage record with 2 wife of Alois from 1931 and there is information about divorce. That is all.

Hi Fabian,

I've done some research with what is available free online and I haven't been able to find anything. This is becoming a bit of a mystery.

There are a few genealogical groups in the Bridgeport area that I could write to on your behalf with your permission.

Kind regards,
Gregory

Hi Fabian,

So far all I have found is a marriage for an Alexis Fikus in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As this is just a list provided by the Connecticut State Library it might an error in reading the original document. The only way to find out is to purchase a copy of the document from http://www.bridgeportct.gov/vitalrecords

This is the information I found:

Id No. 535,302
Groom: Alexis Fikus
Bride: Natalia Mironovich
Date Married: 2nd August 1914
City Married: Bridgeport

I must confess I don't feel this is the correct one, but there are no other marriages for the surname Fikus in Connecticut. I'll keep on searching birth records as we know there was a child at least by 1917 living in Bridgeport.

Kind regards,
Gregory

Fikus and Walusiak (see name bellow) both familynames are popular in Andrychów. Any dates of birth for Josef or Alois? I can try to get the birth record from their native parish if you are interested. Unfortunately I don't have any index for it, so the date except the year would be helpfull.

Witam,
W 1913 r. Alojzy(Alois) wyrusza do Ameryki skąd powrócił do Polski po 1920 r. Kiedy to nie wiem.
Jeśli byłby Pan tak pomocny i znalazł jakieś informacje proszę o kontakt.

Fabian
