Szanowni Państwo!

I would most kindly like to request for your help regarding a look-up at the Archiwum Diecezjalnym w Drohiczynie.

More specifically, I would be highly grateful for a look-up in the Księga Chrztów for Perlejewo or Ostrożany parafia in 1883.
If these data exist or have been reconstructed, I would like to request for a look-up regarding the birth record of our grandfather (either as a written transcript or simply as a photo of the original page). [I know that at least the spisy parafialny from these two parishes have been preserved from this period; however, they would be much more time-consuming to look through for the right constellation of names, I believe.]

Name: Stanisław Jaszczołt
Date of birth: 27 December 1883 (according to his death record)
Father: Jan Jaszczołt. Born ca. 1848/1849 in Jaszczołty, Ostrożany parafia, son of Mateusz & Antonina Jaszczołtow (according to Jan's marriage record below).
Mother: Franciszka z domu Niewiarowska. Born ca. 1862/1863 in Żery Pilaki, Perlejewo/Pobikry parafia, daughter of Stefan & Teofila Niewiarowscy (according to Franciszka's marriage record found below).

The parents of Stanisław Jaszczołt are married on 21 November 1882 in Perlejewo, as the forum's wonderfully kind genealogists have confirmed earlier in this thread - and which is shown on this church book page:
http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/metryka ... 574&y=1414
However, there is of course the risk that this could just be a marriage of another couple who bears the same names as Stanisław Jaszczołt's parents. That is why it would be nice to find his birth record as well.

I thank you most gratefully for your help in resolving this question. Your help would make our family very happy!

With the warmest regards,

Mateusz

W Łomży tego aktu nie ma
Trzeba szukać w AD w Drohiczynie.
Tam jest Perlejewo, Ostrożany i Winna Poświętne

I'm sorry. I've no idea how, but i didn't notice:) So again:
1874-1901 doesn't mean "everything from 1874 to 1901"
it means "oldest 1874, newest 1901"
in this case
oldest are deaths (1874)
newest marrrage (1901)

you can see what AP got in
http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/ar15-zs0554d
or
http://www.szukajwarchiwach.pl/5/554/0#tabJednostki

I'm afraid: you won't find nothing older in AP in future. You can expect B 1897 -..., M 1902-..., D1899-.... in the future, some day.. in state archive..maybe:)

Dear all. Thank you for your replies. I will respond to you one by one:

Sroczyński_Włodzimierz:
Thank you very much for your help with specifying the exact content of the 1874-1901 collection in Łomża that I initially had found. Your first reply was clear enough, but thank you for your later elaboration!
I also thank you for the direct link to the searchable registry of the state archives; I shall definitely take use of it in the future.

Krystyna.waw:
Thank you for the address and your recommendation. In your experience, are the staff themselves willing to respond to individual genealogical requests?

jamiolkowski_jerzy:
Thank you for your reply and for sharing your observation. Yes, I was getting to the same conclusion that it must be the Archiwum Diecezjalnym w Drohiczynie, which contains the records that I am seeking (if, they have been preserved at all that is).

In sum, your considerate responses have left me with two wishes for the future - each of them at their own respective location:

1) A look-up of the 27 December 1883 birth record of Stanisław Jaszczołt at the AD-Drohiczyn (par. Perlejewo or Ostrożany - although I do not think the latter has been preserved).
2) A brief look-up after the marriage of his parents Jan & Franciszka z domu Niewiarowska for the years 1882-83 at the AP-Łomża (Perlejewo parafia); more specifically from this collection:
5/554/0 Akta stanu cywilnego Parafii Rzymskokatolickiej w Perlejewie
http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/5/554/0/-/3? ... bJednostka

I would be immensely grateful for any help that can lead to the discovery of SJ's birth record and/or the marriage record of his parents.

Warm regards to you all,

Mateusz

It takes time, sometimes even two months but I always got response and documents.
Am I lucky or is it rule? I don't know Wink

If I'm not mistaken (I barely can read cyryllic script, maybe someone will confirm this) this is the document you're looking for:

I uwaga najważniesza!! .

Anyway, with this informations you can continue your search in LDS Family History Center. They have microfilmed and digitalized probably all existing parish registers (till 1870) from parochia Perlejewo. Searching for Jan Jaszczołt's might be a little bit trickier as the microfilms/scans of births and marriages from Ostrożany end around 1840. It's possible that Jan wasn't first child of Mateusz and Antonina and they got married before 1840, otherwise you'll have to search for his parents' records in AD Drohiczyn.

Szukac trzeba w AD w Drohiczynie. Oby tylko księgi Ostrożan z tych lat sie zachowały
Ale zaintrygowany raczej nietypowym wpisem sprawdziłem do jakiej parafii nalężały Zery. Teraz to Pobikry.
http://drohiczynska.pl/parafie/pobikry- ... eczennika/
http://www.niedziela.pl/artykul/32299/n ... Stanislawa

Dear Krystyna:
Thank you very much for your input. I shall definitely take your positive experiences with the AP-branch in mind in the future!

Dear Szymon:
My God, this is indeed an amazing discovery, and I have already set the wheels in motion to inform our family of the happy news. Thank you so much for your help!
- The time perspective is indeed very encouraging, in case the big holes in the Ostrozany parafia church books can be overcome. ProjektPodlasie has also worked with digitalization of the earliest records from this parish.
I also thank you for your interest in the question of Żery-Pilaki's parish affiliation!

Dear Jerzy:
Thank you so very, very much for your translation and for your confirmation of the likelihood of connecting this document to our family!
I thank you very much as well for your qualitative inputs regarding Zery Pilaki. I am very happy for the links you have provided and will look more into the matter in the coming days!

Gratitudes for all of your responses, so far!

Most thankfully,

Mateusz

Akta parafialne i akta dziekańskie. Nawet jesli sa braki w parafialnych to dziekańskie pewnie to wypełnią.

Ostrożany parish is most probably in two copies: as Parish books and Deanery books. So most probably all years are covered this way or another.

So, now I have returned after a visit to the family in Poland. The informations from the marriage record of Jan & Franciszka did indeed spread much joy and discussion over the past days!

Dear Piotr (piotr_nojszewski):
Thank you for your input! I hope of course that you are right.
If you at some point should find a list of which exact archive collections that AD-Drohiczyn keep for the period early 19th century until 1939 for the parishes of Ostrozany and Perlejewo, then I would be very happy to see them!

Dear Jerzy (jamiolkowski_jerzy).

If possible, I would please like to ask for your elaboration on two points:
The first one about your kind translation of the mothers' maiden names from the marriage record, and the second one concerning the changing parish affiliation of the village Żery-Pilaki.

1) Translations into Polish and modern Russian of the mothers' maiden names:
Initially, I want to make sure that I understand what you mean when refering to the names 'Borychowscy i Boguszewscy'.
- I interpret these surnames as names that you tried to compare with Antonina's maiden name in the manuscript, with which you were unable to identify a match. Is this didactic interpretation correct?

I have asked a modern-day Russian speaker that I know for her interpretation of Antonina's maiden name (into modern Russian, however, into the Latin alphabet for my convenience).
Her guess was 'Bar??essovna', or 'Barfilsovna', but with no certainty of the letters in the middle of the name.

- Thus, I wonder how your own direct transliteration into the Latin alphabet would sound like - both of Antonina's and of Teofila's respective maiden name?

(I have noticed that there is both a family name of Krzyżewski and one of Krzyżanowski present in Podlasie; so I would like not to jump to too hasty conclusions about Teofila's maiden name either - especially as the manuscript presents the surnames in an older and Russianized form.)

2) Żery Pilaki:
bsodziak found that Żery-Pilaki belonged to Perlejewo parafia in 1834, according to the 'poczekalni'.
I myself found that Stanisław Jaszczołt's place of residence was mentioned as 'Żery Pilaki, Perlejewo parafia', when he was married in 1909.
- Hence, it cannot have been only in the period of 1846 to 1864 (when the parish church in Pobikry was under reconstruction because of damage from a fire) that Żery Pilaki belonged to Perlejewo parafia. It must have done so for a longer period of time, and perhaps returningly, also after the new parish church in Pobikry was established and made ready for service. (However, this being said, it is evident that the village belongs to Pobikry parafia as of today. It is just not very clear to me, for how long and in exactly which periods that this has been the case.)

Wiem jedno - droga do kompetentnych odpowiedzi wymaga dotarcie do dokumentów metrykalnych w AD w Drohiczynie.
Pozdrawiam.
